Abingdon Community Fridge Operations Coordinator

  • Job title:Operations Coordinator
  • Location:Home-based, some hours at Hadland Road Community Centre, Abingdon
  • Terms:Rolling contract, contingent on funding, review after 60 days
  • Salary/rate:The position will be paid at the Oxford Living Wage, to be £12.49/hour
  • Requirements:15 hours/week on average, with some flexibility in working hours required

About us:

Abingdon Community Fridge fights food waste by redistributing surplus food from local businesses and members of the community.The Abingdon Community Fridge is open to all.

About the role:

This role will involve overseeing the running of the Abingdon Community Fridge on a day to day basis.  The Operations Coordinator will be responsible for reporting to the Volunteer Committee

Responsibilities:

  • Assure appropriate staffing levels for the Fridge
  • Assure adherence to health and safety regulations
  • Maintain current information on allergens
  • Inform volunteers of operations updates
  • Liaise with other local food organisations
  • Serve as the Fridge's representative in a networking capacity
  • Coordinate with third-party food distribution agencies
  • Arrange for distribution of any food deemed to be waste
  • Maintain contact with retail partners, troubleshoot any issues
  • Approach possible new retail partners

Candidate requirements:

  • Experience in a food charity or other food service environment preferred
  • Good command of spoken and written English
  • Access to a smart phone will be required
  • Experience working with the public strongly preferred
