Job description
The Growing Together at Chiswick House community programme was established in 2021, with a generous grant from The Linbury Trust. We work closely with local community groups, in particular those who are underrepresented, to co-develop a variety of hands-on gardening and creative activities.Inspired by over 300 years of history and set within the beautiful spaces at Chiswick House & Gardens Trust. Our co-designed projects encourage groups to come together to learn about nature, gain skills, be creative, build confidence and support wellbeing.
Alongside our work with community groups has been the steady development of a new school programme, thanks to the National Lottery Heritage Fund.Focused on hands-on, outdoor engagement in our historical working Kitchen Garden. In 2023 we began piloting both a facilitated and a self-led offer for local primary schools – Key Stage 1 & 2.The facilitated offer inspired by the ‘farm to fork/seed to spoon' model, utilising the uniqueness of our functioning Kitchen Garden and the need for better food education for schools. The self-led offer, focused on developing high-quality resources that support teachers, enrich learning and guide activity in the Kitchen Garden.
We are now at a very exciting stage in the development of our new schools programme. With further funding from National Lottery Heritage Fund, we are recruiting an experienced Learning & Community Coordinator. They will expand the pilots throughout 2024 - 2025, shaping and refining the content, fostering relationships with local primary schools and teachers, coordinating school visits, managing the programme administration and raising the visibility of this work.Importantly, the Learning & Community Coordinator will establish and embed the programme within the organisation.Ready to expand into a thriving school programme, supported by a new Learning Hub (2025/26), a team of experienced schools facilitators and committed volunteers, welcoming school groups on a weekly basis, across our neighbouring boroughs.Inspiring a generation of local young people to connect with nature, support their wellbeing and gain a deeper understanding of how food is grown.
In addition, the Learning & Community Coordinator will support the Community Participation Manager with coordination of the community programme, for local groups, families and young people.Handling elements of project admin, activity and delivery.Building on the partnerships we have in place to support ongoing meaningful co-developed engagement.
