Job description

We are looking for Sales Coordinator to manage income generation and project monitoring activities related to our sustainable, circular approach to food waste and energy.MAD LEAP is a Community Interest Company that transforms food waste into bioenergy, bio-fertiliser and compost, using them to grow food for local consumption.We are setting up several small urban farms across London, starting in Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Newham.We've established a low-tech mushroom farm and a couple of polytunnels growing veggies, salads and herbs as well as offering training and work experience, with more to come next year.

We need a dynamic person to help to manage the sales of our produce locally (within a 1-2 mile radius) and support the development of new products.This will involve online communication as well as delivery via cargo bike (we can train if you've not ridden one before!).We also need help implementing a monitoring system to capture all the input/output, environmental and financial data from day-to-day operations.The monitoring spreadsheet is already prepared but needs to be implemented.Ideally we are looking for a person with all the core skills in the task list below, but if you specialise more in some areas, we will consider your application.

Activities and tasks:

• Develop a sales and marketing strategy with our marketing person
• Send out price lists, respond to queries and support delivery/collection logistics
• Collaborate with team members to keep inventory updated
• Meet local businesses, share samples and gather pre-orders/sales
• Network at local events, leverage existing networks to promote our products
• Hyper-local, cargo bike delivery of produce (within 1-mile radius)
• Implement monitoring system and capture sales and other data

Other requirements:

• Local area knowledge an advantage, speaking Punjabi/Sylheti useful but not essential
• Good organisational skills and data management
• Good communication and team working skills
• Able to take the initiative where necessary
• A passion for the environment an advantage
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Able to ride a bike
• Right to work in the UK

The right person will benefit from working in a friendly, professional, inclusive environment as part of a dynamic, growing company with a strong social and environmental ethos.This role requires a minimum 3-years experience in sales but exceptions can be made for the right candidate.

We are initially looking for someone to work on a PAYE basis (including annual leave and pension benefits) between 1-1.5 days per week, starting on a 3-month contract with the possibility to expand the number of hours/contract length as the company grows.

Some face-to-face work in Tower Hamlets, Hackney Wick, Newham, and some remote working.
