Job description

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and passionate Communications Officer to support the team across their influential research and advocacy work on salt and sugar reduction.This exciting and unique role will provide an opportunity to be involved in a number of administrative, research and communication projects on salt and sugar reduction, including international Salt and Sugar Awareness Weeks, position statement and briefing development, social media and website management.

Main duties and responsibilities

  1. Provide technical support and enable team to efficiently and effectively communicate their salt, sugar and calorie research projects to various stakeholders and policymakers.
  2. Assist with the management of our social media channels, websites, quarterly newsletters and shared inboxes
  3. Assist in the delivery Salt and Sugar campaigns, particularly international awareness weeks, including organising virtual events, liaising with speakers and developing and distributing resources.
  4. Support activities related to collaborations, stakeholder engagement and dissemination.
  5. Contribute to the delivery of position statements, reports, briefings, consultation responses.
  6. Support both field- and computer-based collection/extraction of nutrition data.
  7. Maintain awareness of subject related issues, in particular, developments in international salt, sugar, fat and calorie reduction and public health policy, ensure appropriate dissemination of research to other members of the team, and on the website.
  8. Maintain appropriate databases, keeping accurate written and computerised records, and ensure that these records are stored in a secure place and to maintain confidentiality of all electronically stored personal data in line with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulations.
  9. Carry out administrative tasks as required by the Campaign Manager or other senior staff members.
  10. Undertake any necessary training, and attend and participate in the Department academic activities as and when required.
  11. Comply with relevant College policies and regulations with due regard to financial matters, harassment, equal opportunities, public interest disclosure, health and safety, intellectual property and patenting, data protection or any other rules, regulations or codes binding on the member of staff.
  12. The postholder must at all times carry out their responsibilities with due regard to the University's and Trust's Equal Opportunities policy.
